Fear not, millennials, it’s not low-rise jeans (or low-cut anything for that matter). You may be pleasantly surprised to hear that the styles that have caught influencers’ and fashionistas’ attention have leaned more into a hiker’s aesthetic than a glamorous one. According to data shared with Parade from the shopping app LTK, online searches for cargo pants have increased by 123% since June. These past few months have also seen significant increases in searches for leggings (+139%), hiking-style boots (+70%), windbreaker jackets (+52%), and henleys (+169%), as per the release. The app credits the rise of summer glamping and the site’s fashion influencers (like Kathleen Post and Chandler DeHart) for the spiked searches on its platform that relate to this outdoorsy-chic style. But believe it or not, cargo pants have trended across many other social media apps–even Chipotle got in on it and created a pair of cargo pants from napkins. Clearly, the utility pant is having a moment. And it’s not all bad; ladies, they have pockets! Dozens of TikTok videos created by amateur stylists and fans of the versatile staple have racked-up millions of views each over the past few weeks alone. One user shared a now-viral video that suggested a few ways to style a pair of olive green cargos. The video–which is set to a remixed audio clip from Euphoria–has received nearly 10 million views and 3 million likes. “These pieces are super basic and can be worn with anything!” the creator exclaimed in the caption. A different TikTok user also shared a few more ways to style the pants for the upcoming season–this time, focusing on occasion. “How to style long cargo pants casual, spicy and classy,” the video’s description read. Instagram has also become inundated with the invasion of cargo pants, with nearly 800 thousand photos of people posing in the pants shared to the platform with the tag #cargopants. Among the hundreds of related hashtags, two others–#cargopantoutfit and #cargopant (misspelled)–have also grown to include thousands of images and sources of outfit inspiration. Different variations of cargo pants can even be found scattered across the explore pages of #fallfashiontrends and #fallfashion. So, as we all inevitably become influenced to go out and buy a pair of these very comfortable-looking pants, let’s remember who the real style icons are–Avril Lavigne and Kim Possible. More News:
